1415100 Coated metal GLYCO-METALLWERKE DAELEN & LOOS GmbH 6 Feb 1973 [11 Feb 1972] 5724/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division F2] A composite structure comprises a metal support and a sliding layer carried by the support, the sliding layer including granulated and/or powdered polyimide resin in a polyimide binder. The sliding layer may also include additives for improving the sliding properties, e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene, a metal alloy, powdered graphite, molybdenum disulphide and oxides. In the region of the connecting surface between the sliding coating and the supporting body a gauze may be embedded in the sliding coating, e.g. a gauze consisting of tin-bronze. The supporting body may be a sintered structure made, e.g. from an alloy or a perforated steel or bronze plate. The supporting body may be coated on the side which is to carry the sliding coating with a sintered layer, e.g. an alloy. The structure may be produced by applying to a support a mixture of polyimide lacquer, granular or powdered polyimide and optionally additives homogenized to a low viscosity to pasty for mby spreading, and hardening the layer. The coating may be machined to final thickness before completely hardening. The product may be a sliding bearing. As shown in Figure 1, a gauze 2 of tinbronze is laid on steel supporting body 1. The gauze is pentrated by a mixture of polyimide particles 3, graphite particles 4 and polyimide lacquer 5. In other embodiments a sintered bronze layer is applied to a steel supporting, body, and the sintered layer impregnated with a mixture of polyimide particles, graphite particles and polyimide lacquer; perforated steel plate is coated on one side with a mixture of polyimide particles, graphite particles and polyimide lacquer the mixture penetrating the holes in the supporting body.
