1364051 Washing and filling containers GKN SANKEY Ltd 17 Feb 1972 [25 Feb 1971] 5446/71 Heading B8T In a washing and filling machine a keg supplied by a conveyer 20 is moved to a washing station 11 by a pusher 21, where it is clamped by a pneumatic crosshead 14 to a washing head 15 and washed. It is then transferred, and inverted by a pair of arms 18 mounted in a pivot 19, to a filling station 12 where it is clamped by a pneumatic lift platform 16 to a filling head 17 and filled. It is then lowered and pushed on to a second conveyer 31 by a pusher 22 which has retractable fingers 30, both pushers being synchronously operated by reciprocating pneumatic cylinders. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), three keg sizes can he accommodated on one machine by having variable strokes on the pneumatic cylinders.
