Adding fillers to thermoplastic - without subjection to thermal/mechanical degradation

The thermoplastic material is fed into a double-screw extruder at one end. A separate hopper and single-screw extruder feed fillers to the main extruder at a point along its length where the main material is already plasticised. The remaining length of the main cylinder is a sufficiently long zone to mix the fillers in efficiently, but is at a lower temperature than the previous zones.
