In an imaging material, which normally produces upon imaging and development an image of one normal polarity (positive or negative), the trapping level is selectively controlled to produce, upon imaging and development, an image of the opposite polarity. This may be achieved, for instance, by adding a trap former to the imaging material, to produce, after selective activation of the trap former, for instance, by energy, the desired differential of the trapping levels in the image and non-image areas.
