Thin layer chromatography plates - using polymeric acrylate or methacrylate esters of polyhydric alcohols as binders

The TLC plates consist of a flexible inert carrier, coated with an adsorbent layer contg. as binder a homo-co-or graft polymer of a monoacrylate or mono-methacrylate ester of a polyhydric aliphatic alcohol. The binder gives a good bond to the carrier and between the adsorbent particles, and is resistant to conc. H2SO4 used for revealing colourless substances. When water is used as developing solvent, the adsorbent layer is not loosened from the plate. Sepn. and concn. of individual substances during use is better than with plates using known polymer binders.
