Articles with glossy surfaces are produced by treating a styrene (co)polymer article, contg. or coated with a white pigment, with a liquid which has strong swelling or solvent action on the (co)polymer, followed by drying the article. The articles are esp. films, sheets or plates, and are partic. used as carriers for photographic materials, as labels, or as printed or multi-layer materials.
