The weft thread is moved up to the fell prior to beat-up by the rockers 16, 24, which move the presenter 2 and brake 8 towards the fell. The grippers held by the brake 8 are moved into a channel 12 from which they are fed to a recirculating chain device 14 which returns them to the other side of the loom where they are pushed by a pusher 30 into a magazine 26 from which they are pushed in succession by a member (10) Fig. 1 (not shown) on the rocker 16 into the head 3 of the needle 17. Each gripper has springs (18) Fig. 5 (not shown) for gripping the thread and an aperture (28) which is engaged by a pivoted hook (21) Fig. 8 (not shown) on the receiver head 7 of needle 19 when the needles meet in the middle of the shed, whereof the gripper is carried into the shed by needle 17 and pulled out by the needle 19. The hook (21) is pivoted by a cam 10 to release the gripper from the head 7 at the outer end of the stroke of needle 19.
