Shell/tube heat exchanger - with honeycomb shellside baffles

Heat exchanger shell contains a number of hexagonaly-structured honeycomb elements, in some of the spaces of which the tubes are fitted. Pref. a number of tubes of the bundle are joined in series by elbows at ends of shell, to form one or more parallel series flow paths. High throughput is achieved with lengthy contact time.
