A composite pane of inorganic and/or organic glass comprises =2 glass sheets each having strips of polymer material along their longitudinal edges. A plastic intermediate layer, contg. within it a thin sheet or other solid object, is polymerised in the cavity between the glass sheets. The thin embedded sheet is tough and tear-resistant from -25 to +50 degrees C.
