Nitrogen derivs of olefins (propylene) are prepd. by ammoniacal oxidation with a catalyst based on oxides of Mo, Te, Fe, on a porous support of kaolin, alumina, kieselguhr and pref. silica i.e TeO3(t) MoO3(m) Fe2O3(f), where the ratio m/f is 0.06-1 and t/f is 0.2-1.5. Yield above 76.7% of acrylonitrile based on propylene are obtd compared with 75% for the principal patent FR 1563988.
