1298743 Lubricating bearings FERRARIO ANDREA E FIGLI DI FERRARIO 15 Jan 1970 [10 Sept 1969] 1932/70 Heading F2A A vertical shaft 3 has bearings 14, 15 which are lubricated by atomized oil supplied from a tank 1 located at the bottom of the shaft. The shaft has an axial conduit 23 having a port immersed in the oil in the tank. A housing 2 for the bearings is provided extending coaxially with the shaft, secured to which is the tank. The shaft has a plurality of holes 5 allowing oil from the conduit to pass into the space between the shaft and the housing. On rotation of the shaft oil rises by centrifugal action in the axial conduit and passes into the space between the shaft and housing. The oil is then atomized by a washer 6 having a plurality of teeth located below the holes 5. The oil mist may then pass to the bearings. When the mist condenses it drops back into the tank to be recirculated.
