摘要
1299192 Reactors UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 9 Feb 1970 [20 Feb 1969 23 Jan 1970] 49999/69 and 3515/70 Heading G6C In a sodium-cooled fast reactor, a multiplicity of gas-pressurized containers 13 are immersed in the liquid metal and arranged to collapse on occurrence of an accident involving generation of sodium vapour and shock waves, Thus, the primary containment vessel 1 (which may be of spherical form, not shown), is protected against excess pressure. The gas within the containers 13, which may be of stainless steel, is the same as that of the gas blanket above the sodium surfaces. End closures 16 of the containers may be weaker than their bodies 15 so as to fail first. Sodium is circulated by pump 7 to a header 11 below the core; from the latter the sodium passes to heat exchangers 6 from which it re-enters the vessel 1 between its wall and a casing 4 for the core and heat exchangers.
