1310254 Blasting; soil stabilisation E I JANELID 29 June 1970 [30 June 1969] 31395/70 Heading E1F [Also in Divisions F4 G6 and F1] To allow of maintenance of a water level in rock in which a chamber is being blasted, water, liquid or a gaseous fluid is artificially supplied into the rock through a series of holes drilled into the rock around the zone of the desired chamber before or during blasting of the rock to form the chamber. The holes may be vertical and drilled down from the surface of the rock, or may be horizontal and drilled between driven galleries, which may also be filled with water, liquid or gaseous fluid before the chamber is blasted out. The holes may also be driven outwards from the chamber as it is being formed.
