1320343 Roller mills ALVAN BLANCH DEVELOPMENT CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 March 1970] 11289/70 Heading B2A The nip 12 of a roller mill is adjusted by a device comprising a locating member 32, Fig. 1, connected to the mill frame 36, Fig. 2; a movable member 23 slidable relative to the locating member 32 and attached to a slide or slides 16 in which one 11 of the rollers 10, 11 is mounted, and an operating device 29, 30, 40, Figs. 2, 3, arranged on the locating member which moves the movable member 23 and slide or slides 16 relative to the locating member 32 to increase or decrease the nip. When the nip is to be decreased the movable member 23 engages an adjustable presettable stop or stops 37 connected to the fixed frame 36 of the roller mill and set to predetermine the nip. The operating device comprises a lever 40 whose movement is limited by stops 38, 39, operating an eccentric comprising a pin 29 having a projection 30 arranged parallel to the pin axis. The eccentric is located in a housing 31 secured to a plate 22 which is slidably mounted on rods 24 and urged by compression springs 26 against nuts 28 locked on the rods. The springs ensure that the housing 31 of the pin 29 and the plate 22 follow the eccentric movement of the pin. The ends of the rollers are sealed by wearing pins 41, Fig. 1.
