1333703 Monitoring reactors NUCLEAR POWER GROUP Ltd 26 Nov 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 43178/69 Heading G6C In a protection system which is operated upon an excessive temperature or rate of temperature rise occurring in a reactor fuel channel, each channel is provided with a thermocouple, the channels being associated in groups of fifteen channels, each group having its own tripping system for protecting the reactor. In each tripping system the outputs of the group of thermocouples are continuously scanned and the output of the thermocouple having the highest temperature is separated from the other outputs to cause the tripping action if the temperature level is sufficiently high or if the rate of temperature rise, determined by adding successive outputs from that thermocouple, is excessive. Three embodiments of a protection system are described with reference to Figs. 1-3, not shown.
