Each stocking - shaped filter bag is suspended from a bush which fits into the mouth of the bag and extends through the partition plate separating the bag chamber from the filtered air chamber; the bush, which is secured to the plated by a radial flange, has a through passage which is smoothly convergent/divergent from either end to provide a constricted throat in the middle of the passage, the passage being coaxially aligned with a cleaning air nozzle which can blast air into the bag. Existing bag filters can be fitted with these bag - suspension bushes to simulate a venturi throat which will induce secondary air shock waves and improve the removal of dust from the outside of a filter.
