Flexible elastomeric material is used to make a nostril-fitting housing for an air-purifying cartridge in which physical filtration and chemical purifn. are combined to eliminate noxious and unpleasant fumes from inhaled atmosphere. Each nostril fitment has an inhaling passage contg. the cartridge and a separate exhaling passage, the two passages being fitted with opposed-action, non-return, flap valves. The respirator is intended to purify atmosphere polluted by motor car and industrial exhaust fumes; it fits completely within a user's nostrils, does not affect the appearance and does not interfere with speech clarity.
