1441752 Purifying albumin INSTITUT MERIEUX 4 July 1973 [5 July 1972] 31793/73 Heading C3H [Also in Division A5] A process for the preparation of purified human or other albumin from pulverized placenta or placentary or other hemolysed blood comprises removal of globulins and haemoglobulins, formation of a complex of the albumin with trichloroacetic acid in the presence of a concentration of ethanol above 55% by volume and sufficient to dissolve the complex, grouping substances thereby being eliminated as a precipitate, and the albumin is then collected as a precipitate by neutralization of the trichloroacetic acid. The process may be preceded by the step of thermocoagulating, in the presence of caprylate or other short-chain fatty acid ions, any final traces of heterogeneous protein and denatured albumin.
