The arrangement for a stepping-switch for a three-phase shell-type transformer locates the selector above the selector load switch in such a way that the selector is on level with the taps of the winding. Selector and selector switch are located in a lateral projecting chamber attached to the tranformer housing. The load selector switch is withdrawable in a downward direction after the removal of a cover plate. The positioning of the selector switch reduces the copper wiring length resulting in copper savings and lessens the maintenance costs due to the smaller oil volume in the chamber.
