摘要
The starting material is treated at 950-1400 degrees C with a chloriding agent in the presence of a C-contg. reducing agent, pref. carbon. The chloriding agent comprises FeCl2 opt. with other Cl-contg. compounds chosen from the Gp. Cl2 and HCl, in which the ratio of Cl atoms of these other cpds. to FeCl2 is not 4. The atom ratio of C in the C-contg. reducing agent to oxygen in the starting material is about 1 : 1. The starting material contains 10 wt. % Ti and over 10 wt. % Fe, pref. is an ore with 20-50 wt. % Ti oxide, e.g. ilmenite; Difference 75 wt. % of Ti is chlorided by this method and =90 wt. % Fe of the material is converted into metallic Ce.
