The limits of the control fields coincide in time with the limits of needle divisions, and electronic puses are produced which, while the lock moves, are maintained throughout =1 needle divisions. After amplification, the pulses are applied to an oblique electromagnet mounted in the lock envelope near the preselectors, or to a piezoelectric element with a corner, so that the selection elements which coincide with a pulse, to be displaced to rest by the points of the members, effect a movement in inclination of both the polar surfaces and those of the corner, separating the points of the selection elements sufficiently from the points of the members at rest. Before leaving the polar surfaces, or before the end of the magnetic pulse, a separation point of a needle element connected to the lock is advanced behind the points of the elements thus preselected, and thus ensures their separation. This needle element then propels, with its corner, the element against the end of the needle, and pushes the point of the needles's foot behind the edge point of the needle element, thus setting the needle in action.
