Drive for rapier - in shuttleless rapier loom

In an appts. for driving a flexible rapier in a shuttleless loom with a frame mounted so that it oscillates with the sley, a rapier guide mounted on the frame and a transmission between a loom shaft and the rapier, with the improvement whereby this transmission comprises =1 arm mounted rotatably relative to the oscillating frame, =1 rack hinged at one end to the end of the arm and in engagement with a pinion supported relatively to the oscillating frame, and an auxiliary transmission between this pinion and the rapier consisting of =1 wheel up against which the rapier comes, generally in such a way that the peripheral speed of this wheel is greater than that of the pinion engaging the rack. In partic., the transmission between the pinion and the rapier has a gear wheel fixed to, but larger than the pinion, with its teeth in engagement with recesses in the rapier.
