摘要
1451000 Photographic materials EASTMAN KODAK CO 2 May 1974 [7 May 1973] 19319/74 Heading G2C [Also in Division D1B] A dye or fluorescent brightener contained in an organic material, e.g. in a layer of a photographic material such as an imaged colour material, is stabilized against the effects of visible or ultraviolet radiation by adding a stabilizing compound to said material, wherein the dye or brightener has its longest wavelength absorption peak below 590 nm and the stabilizing compound is an azomethine containing the characteristic grouping:- wherein the phenyl group may be substituted or not and where the carbon atom shown may be cyclic, the azomethine having its longest wavelength absorption peak above 530 nm and longer than the longest wavelength absorption peak of the dye or brightener, and the azomethine having a quenching capacity (as defined in the specification) greater than one and a quenching efficiency # o /# greater than one, where # o is the corrected fading rate of the dye or brightener alone and # its corrected fading rate in the presence of the azomethine. A wide variety of dyes may be stabilized including anthraquinone dyes, azo dyes, azomethine dyes and formazan dyes. The photographic materials comprise silver halide colour materials having a colour coupler from which the image dye to be stabilized is formed on colour development and a second colour coupler which forms the stabilizing azomethine also in the image areas (eg Examples 34 and 39 to 43). Alternatively, the material may contain a single colour coupler from part of which the image dye is formed from one developing agent and from the remainder of which the stabilizer is formed from a different developing agent. In a colour transfer embodiment, the photographic material may comprise a mordanted receiving sheet containing the azomethine stabilizer to which the dye migrates during the dye diffusion transfer process.
