1460304 Herbicidal compositions ELI LILLY & CO 10 Dec 1973 [11 Dec 1972] 57231/73 Heading A5E [Also in Division C2] Herbicidal compositions comprise (a) an inert carrier, (b) 0.05 to 2.0 parts of a triazinone of formula: wherein Q represents phenyl, C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl or C 1 -C 6 alkyl and (c) 0.25 to 4.0 parts of a 2, 6-dinitroaniline of formula: wherein RSP1/SP is C 2 -C 6 alkyl optionally substituted with Cl, Br, F or methoxy, C 3 -C 6 alkenyl optionally substituted with C1, cyclopropylmethyl or cyclopropy ethyl; RSP2/SP is hydrogen or as defined for RSP1/SP, provided that when RSP2/SP is hydrogen, RSP1/SP is C 3 -C 6 sec-alkyl, or RSP1/SP and RSP2/SP together with the N atom to which they are attached form a C 3 -C 8 polymethyleneimino ring; RSP3/SP is halogen, C 1 -C 3 , alkoxy, cyano, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, F 1 -F 3 , fluoromethyl, C 1 -C 2 alkoxy- C 1 -C 2 alkyl, optionally substituted with Cl, C 2 -C 4 alkenyl optionally substituted with Cl, C 1 -C 2 alkylsulphonyl or -SO 2 RSP4/SP. Wherein RSP4/SP is amino, azido, wherein RSP5/SP and RSP6/SP are C 1 -C 3 , alkyl or together are a tetramethylene chain; m is 0 to 2; n is 3 to 5; RSP7/SP is C 1 -C 2 alkyl; X is H, CH 3 , C 1 -C 2 alkoxy, Cl or amino optionally substituted with C 1 -C 2 alkyl. A preferred composition comprises 0.25 to 2.0 parts of 3- methylthio-4-amino-6-t-butyl-1, 2, 4-triazin-5- one and 0.5 to 2.0 parts of 2, 6-dinitro-N, N- dipropyl-, , -trifluoro-p-toluidine (trifluralin). A method of inhibiting the growth of weeds in soy bean cropland comprises applying the compositions to the soil and incorporating them in the top two to six inches thereof.
