In a blend of a silicone polymer (I), a non-silicone polymer (II) except PTFE and a chemically treated filler (III), (III) consists of an inorg. Si cpd. with Si-O-Si gps. and BET specific surface area is not 40 m2/g, treated with silane(s) in which organic gp(s)., are attached to (each of) the Si atom(s) via a Si-C linkage. The blend is used for mouldings (which can retract when heated), partic for covering and as insulant for electric structures and cable; and as heat-shrinkable mouldings, consisting of the cured blend, in the form of pressed parts suitable for the prodn. of wire manifolds in the form of tubes, hose, petticoats and stress cones. There is a considerable redn. or elimination of phase sepn. on extrusion and press moulding, since (III) is very compatible with (I) and (II) and leads to improved compatibility of both phases.
