A solid pesticidal composition which releases gaseous dichlorvos (DDVP) to the atmosphere comprises 1) DDVP, 2) an organic solid of m.p. 40‹C to 250‹C and which may sublimate at room temperature, and 3) a thermoplastic polymeric material. Many components 2) and 3) are listed and those preferred are:- 2) pdichlorobenzene, #-naphthol, biphenyl, naphthalene and tricyclodecane; 3) polyvinyl chloride, polymethyl methacrylate and polystyrene. The solid compositions may be in the form of rods or cubics, and also disclosed is a special holder for a shaped composition of the invention such that falling off in release of dichlorvos (DDVP) is reduced.
