1368799 Figured fabrics E RATH 6 Oct 1971 [21 Oct 1970 1 April 1971] 46518/71 Headings D1E and D1K In a method and loom for weaving figured fabrics coloured figuring wefts 13, 14 and a ground weft 15 are supplied in the warp direction and inserted in loops by respective shuttle catch threads 11, 12 extending from shuttles, the catch threads being interlaced with pairs of holding warp threads 181, 182, which are shed after the shuttle movement which lays the catch thread in the shed, to locate one end of the figuring thread loop weftwise in the fabric, the other end being located by a pair of holding warp threads 191, 192. The binding and holding warp threads are distributed over the width of the ground warp in accordance with the pattern required. The wefts are controlled by Jacquard operated healds 59. Creels, weft supplying and tensioning. Weft is supplied from bobbins 49 and passes through a spring loaded tensioner 50 and reversing eyelets 55 and 56, which is spring loaded to provide a short term weft store in the resulting loop. Beat-up motions. The sley 86, Fig. 6, is timed to beat-up only every second shuttle pick by a gear 88 on the loom main shaft 84 driving a gear 89 with twice the number of teeth, both gears acting through a respective link 87, 90 on a further link 91 pivoted to the sley. Jacquards Fig. 5. To allow the weft controlling and shuttle row selecting healds, and the holding and binding warp threads to be shed every shuttle movement while the ground warps are only shed every second shuttle movement, the griffe is in two parts 69, 71, of which the inner part 71, controlling the ground warps is retained in the raised open shed position every second cycle by members 73 acting on bars 72 fixed to the inner griffe 71. The members 73 are fixed to shafts 75 which are oscillated by a cam 81 driven from the loom mainshaft 84.
