They are prepared by emulsifying the above components in the given proportions, in water in the presence of an anionic surfactant and a cation selected from triethanol-ammonium, tri(2-propanol)-ammonium, diethanol ammonium and 1-3C alkyl-diethanol-ammonium, adding the polymerisation catalyst and maintaining the reactants in emulsion until almost all the unsatd. comonomers have reacted to form the desired copolymer. The copolymers are resistant to plasticisers such as dioctyl phthalate.
