Press tooling for the moulding of pot shaped ceramics

Press for the compaction of pot shaped compacts from clay, corundum etc. comprises a die which is open at the top and consists of a lower punch unit and the press table with a cavity surrounding it. On to this is lowered the upper punch which, pref. after an initial compaction action, at which the press table is stationary, moves downwards together with the press table, which is thus vertically displaced downwards relative to the lower punch unit. The concerted downwards movement of the press table, the cavity in which forms the outer wall of the compact, results in a reduction of wall friction forces which aid the compaction of the wall sections of the pot shaped pressing.
