The sealing system is for the weather decks of container-and semi-container ships. The cover consists of several neighbouring individual covers, which enclose a butt joint, and single rails projecting into the joint. The freely upward projecting angle arms enclose a gap, sealed by a sealing rail with a profiled rubber seal, which engages over the arms. The sealing rail (14) is hinged to one of two neighbouring covers (10). When lashed down, the sealing rail and its associated lashing elements (18-20) are completely lowered into the butt joint (11). The sealing rail is height-adjustable in its swivel bearing (15). The rail may be fixed in its upward position, and its free end has an eye (22) for a hooked actuating rod.
