Briquettes for subsequent processing are made from scrap metal, grey cast iron or scrap steel by breaking down the scrap with the aid of an impact breaker, sorting and cleaning the scrap and then feeding it to a briquetting press which delivers the briquettes to a special containers that is conveyed direct as a discharge vessel to the melting plant by a conveyor and lifting devices. The briquettes are directly discharged into the melting plant by ejector mechanisms.
