High speed warp knitting machine in which occurrence of faulty weft yarn insertion is prevented is provided with special weft yarn feeding sinkers which feed the weft yarns simultaneously to the level of the upper edge of the knock off sinkers and the weft yarn sinkers are arranged and driven between the knock off sinkers in such a manner that they are reciprocated vertically with dwell times and during their upward movement separate a weft yarn and supply it to the spine of a needle, whereby a holding down comb disposed above the needles presses the weft yarn against the knock off sinker during the forward and upward movement of the needles.
