The phthalocyanines are prepd. in pigment form by reaction of 1,3-diimino-isoindolines with salts of divalent metals in OH- gp. contg. organic solvents in the presence of opt. substd. benzonitriles and/or aliphatic nitriles. Pref. the reaction is carried out at 80-120 degrees C for 2-3 hrs.
