Reaction pref. is carried out with aq. or alcoholic NH3 at 150 degrees C (160-190 degrees C) and sulphonation with oleum (5-20% SO3) at is not 50 degrees C. Prods. are suitable for dyeing natural and synthetic polyamide fibres in brilliant (greenish) yellow tones and partic. clear and bright green tones. The process is simpler and cheaper than those starting from acenaphthene and gives yields of 95%.
