The surface member is of high wear-resistance and the axle is of high torsional and bending strength. A hollow, filled with pressure fluid is provided in the axle. To assemble the roller the axle is introduced into the cylindrical surface member and to obt. a tight fit the fluid is pressurized from a cavity located at the end of an axle stub, the cavity being joined to the hollow by an oilway. In the cavity may either be a screwed-down pressure applying piston, or a non-return valve and a relief valve. In the second case the fluid is pressurized by an external pump.
