Benzene-1,3-disulphonamides - with hypotensive activity and weak coronary dilating and positive inotropic activity

Cmpds. of formula (I) and their acid salts are new: (where R is lower alkyl or aralkyl; R' and R2 are H, Me or Et; R3 is H or lower alkyl; and R4 is H, lower alkyl, is not 8 C cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl, or aralkyl opt. substd. in the aromatic ring by 1 or 2 halogen atoms or alkyl or alkoxy residues; or NR3R4 is pyrrolidino, piperidino, hexamethyleneimino, morpholino or 4-alkyl-1-piperazinyl). (I) have marked hypotensive activity accompanied by weak coronary dilating activity and positive inotropic activity. Other pharmacological activity is absent and toxicity is low, so that (I) are useful for treating hypertension, esp. essential hypertension.
