Equiv. amts. of an aromatic carboxylic acid and ethylene oxide or 1,2-propylene oxice are reacted at 50-180 degrees C using 0.5-2 wt.% Cr (III) catalyst, calc. on the acid and 50-100 wt.% amine, calc. on the Cr catalyst.
