Furan resins useful as putties for protection against acids, and having high resistance to chromosulphuric acid, H2O2 and HNO3, iodine nos. reduced to 300 at resin viscosities of 1500 cp, and reduced shrinkage, are prepd. by condensing furfuryl alcohol at 40-60 (50) degrees C using acid catalysts under passage of air or O2 for 7-30 (10-12) hrs.
