Steam-hardened shaped bodies such as building bricks, are produced from a mass contg. (I) at most 30 pref. 10 wt.% fine lime, or at most 35 pref. 15 wt.% hydrated lime, (II) at most 30 pref. 15 wt.% fine quartz-contg. sand and (III) inert granular additives, pref. granular material from a limestone quarry. High quality building materials with a high compression resistance are prepd. from the cheap raw materials, esp. waste materials.
