Pressure vessels and autoclaves requiring the circulation of hot air or other gaseous media are fitted with a fan impeller which is driven by an electric motor flanged to the outside of the shell. The motor is mounted at the end of the impeller drive shaft which passes through a plate flanged to the shell. The motor itself is encased in pressure-tight casing which is flanged to this plate and can be cooled.
