N-(Fluorodichloromethylthio)-N-(trifluoromethyl)amino benzoyl fluorides of formula (II) (where R is halogen, NO2, 1-3C alkyl or alkoxy, or CF3; and n is 0.1 or 2) are reacted with excess hydroxylamine in the presence of alkali hydroxide to give known fungicidal N-(fluorodichloromethylthio)-N-(trifluoromethyl)amino benzhydroxamic acids (which may be converted into salts by means of alkali (ne earth) hydroxides or heavy metal salts) in a simpler manner than by the procedure described in patent number DT 2311983.
