Adsorption and regeneration - using batches of regeneration liquor of increasing purity

A gas is passed through adsorption beds arranged in rows, one row being regenerated while =1 one of the others is adsorbing; regeneration liquor contg. desorbed material is stored in a number of stages according to the concn. of desorbed substance contained in the liquor when regenerating the beds; a bed is first washed using a regeneration liquor contg. a higher concn. of substance and then washed using further batches of regeneration liquor contg. successively lower concns. of desorbed substance. Between two successive rows of adsorption beds, a phase difference is introduced, so that storage of the regeneration liquors and their supply to the beds can be operated continuously between the two rows. More efficient and economic utilisation of the regeneration liquor is achieved.
