A shaft driven in a full circle has the weft yarn at its swinging end, to be carried across the line of warp yarns. At the far end the weft is caught by a spur on a rotary disc, the rotary actions of shaft and disc causing the yarn to be held by the spur. While a holder prevents the weft from slipping, a two-pronged grip converts the weft into a loop, and passes it over hooks to a chain drive at the side to develop a series of parallel wefts. These wefts are then bonded to tie warps by adhesives to form the non-woven, at a high prodn. rate, and without friction problems. Process is particularly used with glass fibres.
