Hemi-salts of S-carboxymethylcysteine in which the carboxyl gp nearer the S-atom is neutralised with alkali metal alkaline earth metal bases; and their addn. salts with pharmaceutically acceptable bases and their hydrates. Prefd. salts are the Na, K, Li, Ca and Mg salts, and their colamine, piperazine, piperidine, lysine, arginine, and histidine addn salts, esp. salts of L-(-)-S-Carboxylmethylcysteine.
