Connecting concrete reinforcing rods - in situ by thermit welding

In the method the ends of the reinforcing bars or rods are joined by thermit welding at each layer of concrete. The weld is obtd. by overlapping the ends of the reinforcing rods, contacting them with a thermit mixt., pref. contd. in a sachet which wraps around the overlapping ends, and igniting the mixt.
