Sulphidic roasting nickel - contg ores in aqueous mud form contg chloride ions with controlled temp and pres

Selective sulphidising of Ni-contg. oxide material esp. laterite ores, is carried out by producing an aqs. mud of finely divided raw material contg. =10 g/l chloride ions and sulphidise roasting with 2-4% S w.r.t. wt. of oxide material. The mud is maintained under H2 partial press. of =8 atmos. and 200-240 degrees C.
