A specific amino acid in a mixt. is determined by adding to a measured amt. of it, radioactively labelled, transfer RNA in amt. insufficient for complete reaction, and a transfer RNA-amino acyl synthetase, in the presence o adenosine triphosphate. The amino acid-transfer RNA is sepd. and the radioactivity measured with scintillation counter. Amt. of amino acid in the original mixt. is read from a calibration curve.
