Heterocyclic-methyl thio- and dithiocarbamates - useful as biodegradable herbicides of low toxicity

Cpds. of formula (I): (where A, B, C are O, N, S, CH or NR3 where R3 is H or alkyl; X is S; Y is O or S; D is alkyl, NO2 or SR4 where R4 is H or alkyl: R1, R2 are H, alkyl), are biodegradable herbicides of low toxicity which are prepd. by reaction of a halide or salt of a thio- or dithiocarbamic acid with the appropriate heterocycle. Pref. heterocycles are imidazoles, oxadiazoles and thiazoles.
