In mfr. of an emulsion/suspension polymer, the following operational steps are effected in any order, with simultaneous agitation of a polyvinylhalide latex: (a) contacting the latex polymer particles with a vinylhalide monomer (pref. vinylchloride); (b) inactivating the emulsifier of the latex; (c) adding an emulsion stabiliser system; (d) adding a non-polymeric modifier e.g. a heat-stabiliser, lubricant or processing oil. Latex particles held in the aq. dispersion are converted or incorporated into larger particles which may then be conveniently sepd. by conventional methods from the aq. phase. Prods. have good colour and are easily processable.
