Thermally insulating packaging material - of polyethylene foam bonded to a stiff support

Composite packaging material comprising a layer of non crosslinked polyethylene foam bonded to a layer of polyethylene film mounted on a stiff support pref. made of kraft paper, bleached cardboard or canvas. Alternatively the support may be of polyethylene sheet, eliminating the film interlayer. Esp. suitable for making postal or portable bags or packets by welding two layers face to face, pref. with the foam removed from a weld zone width of =5 mm. Provides a tough pack with good thermal insulation and low-temp. flexibility.
